Follow - Week 1

The United Pentecostal Church International has embraced the theme "FOLLOW" as we endeavor to fulfill the resounding mandate of Jesus, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24). The Greek rendition and etymology of the word "follow" (Akoloutheō) translates to mean "to come after" and "to accompany, assist, and reach." The invitation to follow Jesus is to obey this call, and tolearn of Him, to love Him, and to be like Him. It is to know Him, adore Him, and emulate Him! To "Follow the Leader" (Jesus) comes with a purpose and a price, but this pursuitalso comes with a promise! The world says, "Follow your heart," but the Lord says, "Follow my feet." Embark beyond the temporal and follow Jesus; for when we walk in His footsteps, we find the eternal. Join with us in prayer and fasting, and unreservedly say to yourself, "Where He leads, I will follow!"

  • January 1: that the UPCI and constituency accomplish God's divine purpose, receive His promises, and "follow...and inherit the land which the LORD...giveth" (Deuteronomy 16:20).
  • January 2that material provisions and finances be granted to leaders and followers. "This blessing...let it even be given unto...men that follow my lord" (I Samuel 25:27).
  • January 3: that uncommitted souls make up their minds to follow Jesus. "How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him" (I Kings 18:21).
  • January 4: that Global Missions and North American Missions be fruitful. Pray for a great awakening, revival, and harvest worldwide, and that "goodness and mercy shall follow" (Psalm 23:6).
  • January 5: that those bound by addiction be set free and they cease to follow the same bondage. "Woe unto them that...follow strong drink" (Isaiah 5:11)!
  • January 6: that pastors follow God and effectively fill their pastoral roles. Pray for all UPCI leadership and ministers. "I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee" (Jeremiah 17:16).
  • January 7: that ministers follow not their own human carnality, but be led by the Spirit. "Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit" (Ezekiel 13:3)!
